Dear Dream Zone,

I found out that I was pregnant with my second child about 7 months ago. I keep having dreams that my son, who is one year old, dies. Mainly drowning in the toilet!!! I'm having a little girl in August and am worried about how I'm going to be able to share me with both kids. My son is a BIG mommy's boy. I still feel like I should give my son more one on one time with just him as the only child.

–Tara 22, Rochester, NY

Lauri: Let me assure you that your dream is common when a second little one comes along, so you're not crazy nor will any harm come to your son. Death in a dream means change is happening in waking life, which is certainly the case with you! Your son's death simply means that you are very aware of the big change he is going to go through when the new baby arrives. His identity of being an only child will die and a new identity of being a brother will be born! Why the toilet as a means of his demise? Well, you must feel this is a "crappy" situation for him. His drowning reflects your fear that he will be drowned out by all the attention the infant will need. The truth is, this will probably be more difficult for you than it will be for him. Having a little sister will only enhance his childhood!

Tara replies: This makes so much sense! I feel A LOT better! I just got my son a kitty so that he had something to keep him company when I'm busy with the baby. I'm still nervous about having two kids but I feel better about the dream and hopefully if I still have it I will just laugh it off and know that he will be ok. I guess I can calm down now when he walks into the bathroom. You have really helped me a lot.

Dear Dream Zone,

I have been having a dream about a man I work with who is in upper management. In all of these dreams he is in a glass office. They are not necessarily in the same building or company. Once he had a glass office at a bank (he does not work at a bank). The dreams are always different except for his glass office and the fact that I can't see him in the office but I know he is there. And it is always a very prominent position he holds in these dreams. Can you tell me what this is all about?

–Lynn 39, Genoa City, WI

Dr. Katia: He's inaccessible. Some part of you worries you can't reach his level of career attainment, a level you would be happy with. You don't want someone else's job specifically, but you would be happy in upper management. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but what about those in glass offices? Is he critical of you personally? If not then he probably symbolizes the "man s world" in the workplace, the subtle sexist bias that many men and women both don't even know they possess (invisible like glass) but which makes them think men "deserve" the leadership positions and do better in them. The saying about women not being able to break thru the glass ceiling comes to mind. What invisible barriers are keeping you from "very prominent" and "upper management" positions? Your co-worker is hidden in plain sight - a puzzling contradiction. How do you feel this guy (or yourself, since he symbolizes part of you) is invisible to you even though he's in a glass office with no privacy, and even though he is holding a prominent position? There are things unseen that you know in your heart and mind about a situation, but cannot see in the physical realm. Very interesting...
